In the Sonoran Desert, a Market Hall–Inspired Library by Richärd Kennedy Architects is Designed for Flexibility

Gateway Public Library in Mesa, Arizona Seven decades ago, Mesa, Arizona, was a dusty agricultural community in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. Completed in 2025, the Gateway Public Library, designed by Richärd Kennedy Architects, seeks to address that shortfall with a flexible civic hub set in a public park. The roof planes are visible within the main hall (4, 5).
