Arte Abierto Baja Open-Air Gallery by Sordo Madaleno in Los Cabos, Mexico
Arte Abierto Baja is an open-air gallery in Los Cabos, Mexico, embedded four meters below grade to establish a protected yet sky-facing setting for large-scale contemporary art. Defined by a rotated-square courtyard, textured concrete walls, and stone-lined approaches, the 180-square-meter project makes descent, light, and the desert terrain integral to the exhibition experience. The architecture becomes a frame for the landscape, and the landscape becomes a canvas for large-scale art.
